You are invited to come enjoy our Shakespeare Festival on Orcas Island, featuring costumed performers, an Eastsound Parade, street theater, a thought-provoking presentation, and a performance of ‘Othello’ by The Seattle Shakespeare Company. Clear your schedule for March 19 – 22, 2014.
March 19 – 21: ‘Three Nights of Entertainment.’ Your chance to catch music, theater, all from the best Orcas Island has to offer. Attend one, two, or all three nights. It’s all happening at Random Howse in Eastsound. 7:30 pm start. Food & drink & theater!!!
Thursday, March 20: Fundraiser dinner at Sazio di Notte. Do not miss this special evening! Chef Bill Patterson has created a menu fit for for the Bard himself.

Special guests include actors from Seattle Shakespeare Company, and Professor Ayanna Thompson. There will be entertainment, and Bill will share some of his very best wine. Friday, March 21: ‘ Othello in the 21st Century: To Perform or Not To Perform?’
In partnership with the Orcas Crossroads Lecture Series, George Washington University Professor Ayanna Thompson presents a most relevant topic. Othello is the best-known black character in Shakespeare’s plays, a traditional role of dignity for black actors. But racial stereotypes of the 17th century create some discomfort among 21st century audiences. Tickets for this talk are $10 and are available at the Orcas Crossroads website, Darvill’s Bookstore in Eastsound, and through Brown Paper Tickets (website).
Saturday, March 22: Street Festival & Parade in Eastsound. Come enjoy the street performers, vendors on North Beach Road, a Farmers Market on the Village Green, and a Parade! Festivities get underway at 10 am.
